Some friends of Dave's in Nashville wanted a song that "trashed" Phil Spector. He ripped them off in the 60's, stole some of their songs and murdered a young lady they knew. Spector was  a genius and transformed pop music with his Wall of Sound but power, money, drugs ,greed and egomania drove him crazy.

 

Amazingly some of the lovely  backing singers from the  Crystals and Ronettes eventually recovered some of the money he stole from them and while they agreed this song should be released they wanted to offer forgiveness and the second section was created.

 

Maybe they will all meet in 2025 when Spector is released from prison.

 

If you are not familiar with this amazing story please read the biography of Darlene Love who was in the Crystals.  She was a true singing star with a perfect voice but in spite of all the hit records and hundreds of live shows Spector stole her money and she ended up cleaning houses to make a living.

 

Thank God she was rescued by friends in the music business and a good lawyer and she lives comfortably now.
